Clinic Notes etc: September 2011
http://ginatorrellclinics.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 24, 2011. Phone call to clear up confusion about intensity: how long, frequency, etc. based on experiences of the last few days. Monday after Friday’s session with Dan:. Balance between gaining respect, building Try’s ability to ask questions versus harming her confidence. The object isn’t obedience so much as getting Try to say it’s a good idea to be a partner and assume responsibility. Dominant horse would bit kick ignore—range. Try giving less each day after getting it: don’t...

http://ginatorrellclinics.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 18, 2012. 2012 5 17 Dan. Try – 3 hours. Started with the catching game in the field. Phase 1 is the INVITATION, stop when she looks up, walk slowly and use stick and string as appropriate. All about where do we go from here with HQ/FQ. Lead to powering up for upward transitions, lead changes, canter departures. Extreme friendly to warmup, get energy up. Varying Sbend, falling leaf, driving FQ/HQ? When which—speeds up its HQ, goal is bend in the body—where is Try thinking? What is the purpose?

Clinic Notes etc: February 2013
http://ginatorrellclinics.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 21, 2013. February - Tango and Try. 2013 February 18 Dan Thompson – Try. What we did on line:. Sideways on the circle: we kinda mushed around with this—no problem with 360 just not straight so Dan stepped in. What I saw: LIFE UP at phase 1, holding Try really close. S bends—WOW I learned that I had been adding in a cross step. What we did riding:. I asked about cueing from intention while riding. Dan said in effect that cueing from intention is body language so my weight aids are p...

Nickers at Rollover: Saturday
http://nickersatrollover.blogspot.com/2014/04/saturday.html
Sunday, April 13, 2014. Today I was frustrated- I too tired and that does not work well- but I did not want to neglect her. Nicky wanted attention and I played with her but it felt more like I was playing at her. Sorry girl. 1 Teaching response to subtler cues for games we know isn't going well. I am not getting the idea across and Nicky is just making assumptions. Hmmmm- need to rethink and get her attention. 4 Go to regular 22 foot rope- my light weight rope doesn't provide enough feel for her.

Nickers at Rollover: Phone Coaching with Dawn Roth
http://nickersatrollover.blogspot.com/2014/04/phone-coaching-with-dawn-roth.html
Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Phone Coaching with Dawn Roth. I ran my plan by Dawn and we spent about 30 minutes talking about how to do my best for Nickers:. Yes grooming, tieing, clippers and grooming her face are first priority. We discussed methods and I like Dawn's suggestions. Consistency, small pieces and bite-size chunks and release only on the improvement/relaxation/step toward the desired behavior. Every day for progress. Hmm what is the weather report? Maybe go out about 2:00.

Nickers at Rollover: More thoughts
http://nickersatrollover.blogspot.com/2014/04/more-thoughts.html
Tuesday, April 8, 2014. So goals possibly for the next week:. 1 think through the grooming issues and come up with a plan. A groom out back at liberty? C desensitization to clippers when she isn't afraid of them? 2 be very clear with her about coming into my space. 3 be careful not to be direct line and LBI myself- Jim Carrey and mischief. 4 take the time and remember to be pleased, watch my thinking- find the successes and celebrate them with Nickers. Nickers at Rollover: Sunday and Nicky
http://nickersatrollover.blogspot.com/2014/04/sunday-and-nicky.html
Sunday, April 13, 2014. I like Nicky as a nickname as it sounds so friendly. No more than 20 minutes. Use regular 22' rope- Try's rope to light for the feel Nicky and I need. For me remember positive thoughts, Jim Carrey sense of fun. 2 Sticking together 101 to create draw/connection. 3 Backing from a look. What will cause her to care enough to figure out that the game is learning not a task but more subtle cueing? 4 Circling on line: can I cue gait changes? 5 The little jump? Is she miserable and missin...
