Saturday, March 24, 2018. March 17 - Hiking Club in Solstice Canyon, Malibu. We were out for an 8-mile hike on the first sunny day after a week or so of intermittent storms. Solstice Canyon once was a ranch, but the area burned out in 1982, and the family sold or donated it to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. Monday, November 7, 2011. Harpers Ferry and the October 2011 Snowstorm. I did a hike up the north face of the mountains surrounding Harpers Ferry the day after the big October snowstorm. The combination of snow and trees with leaves was beautiful. The damage to the trees and the trail was extensive though - the snow stuck to the leafy trees and brought many of them down. Can you spot the trail? It runs off to the left half way up the picture. You can see video on these YouTube links ( #1.
