Harvestmen (Daddy Longlegs)

http://www.backyardnature.net/longlegs.htm

N many backyards the most conspicuous spider isn't a spider at all, but rather something related to the spiders, as are scorpions, ticks, mites, centipedes and millipedes. This is the Daddy-longlegs, also known as the Harvestman. A Brown Harvestman, photographed by Michael Suttkus near his home in Florida, is shown at the right. John LaSala writes us that he's read that harvestmen are called harvestmen because they're most conspicuous in the fall, at harvest time! HARVESTMEN ARE LEGGY CREATURES.

Nature Study Online

http://www.backyardnature.net/nsop/welcome.htm

To become a backyard naturalist. By using Internet resources we provide. It's nice to have field guides. Often found in local libraries. It's fun to have some other naturalist tools. But those items aren't absolutely necessary. Many online pages on nature-study basics. A long list of nature-oriented things to do during spring. A weekly naturalist's newsletter. A good place is.
